CNC Turning, Milling, Drilling, Welding & Nitriding of ATV / Jet ski Components

 

At Blue Grass Manufacturing Co. of Lexington Inc., we are capable of meeting the high demand of high quality, cost effective parts for the automotive industry. Automotive manufacturers are responsible for ensuring the safety of millions of consumers and as such have stringent quality standards to ensure that their products are produced responsibly. The automotive components highlighted below are from a vehicle component manufactured from 4130 normalized and homogenized chrome-moly steel. It has a diameter of 4", a length of 7.33" and is machined to tolerances of ±0.0004". Chrome-moly steels provide a superior strength to weight ratio compared to standard carbon steels, but their chemical composition makes them difficult to weld. When 4130 steel is welded the work piece must be pre-treated in an oven to prevent cold cracking.

These components are turned and milled using CNC machining centers and then welded to customer specifications. As part of this project development, a full PPAP was performed according to automotive industry standards to ensure the manufacturing process would result in a premium quality, consistent part. We are capable of working with challenging materials while adhering to strict quality standards, backed by our ISO 9001:2015 certification. After welding, the weldments are inspected to verify part conformance. We produce 50 to 250 of these parts per month with a typical lead time of 3 weeks per production run.
