The Wood Turning Chuck concept was first presented to BGM by an inventor as a demonstration 3D plastic model. Aimed at the hobbyist wood turning market the product offers unique quick change features. BGM helped develop the first prototypes to meet the customers 2D CAD drawing, machining small batches of components and working with heat treat and plating companies to perfect the products characteristics and appearance. During beta testing a number of small alterations were made to the design to improve performance and simplify manufacture. Progress was rapid and actual production started just 6 weeks after the first prototypes were produced. Many of BGM's extensive machining capabilities were employed to manufacture the components including: horizontal sawing, CNC lathes, CNC milling in addition to outsourcing the plating & heat treatment services.

Following the start of production, some additional changes were made to the design to further enhance the appearance and functionality of the product. BGM undertook the majority of the machining activity, and all of the assembly and packaging.

The Wood Turning Chuck is highly innovative and is marketed as a high end product so that visual and functional requirements are paramount. To ensure this BGM performs 100% functional testing and maintains very detailed photographic work instructions detailing each element of the assembly and inspection process step by step. Operator training is carefully documented to ensure the very highest level of compliance to exacting customer requirements and to meet our ISO 9001:2015 standards.
